What is NYC Fleet Week
NYC Fleet Week is an annual event that welcomes and celebrates the nation’s men and women of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard at the Intrepid Museum for a week of events and guided tours of various ships. This year will mark NYC’s 37th iteration of the tradition that dates back to 1984, according to the American Navy.
“Fleet Week is about celebrating those who serve and recognizing the unyielding strength of our Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard team,” said Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Rear Adm. Wesley McCall, last year. “As we come together to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during their service, we are reminded of the diverse and inclusive fighting force that is currently serving to protect national security and preserve our way of life.
