It’s official.
After saying that he was considering a curfew for NYC earlier this morning, Governor Cuomo officially announced in a press release that he and Mayor de Blasio are invoking one at 11pm tonight, June 1.
All NYC residents are required to stay home from 11pm – 5am. They also said they are increasing the NYPD presence to “prevent violence and property damage.” This comes after storefronts in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn were damaged with items taken during protests last night. Most other protests that occurred yesterday appeared to be peaceful.
They said they still support peaceful protest in the city and remind everyone to wear face coverings and take other health precautions.
