This bodega sells more than your typical coffee…that’s right, we’re talking cocktails!
Next time your on a late night run for a deli sandwich and chips, maybe take a closer look around the bodega. At this little store on South Street Port, what may appear to be your regular New York City bodega actually has a secret cocktail bar and lounge in the back!
Journey past the Ritz crackers and sugar on the shelf to find a hidden sliding door. Behind the door reveals a colorful lounge filled with vintage furniture and vibrant wallpaper!
Drink cocktails from their collection of eclectic glasses like Purple Vesper (gin, vodka, lillet, lavender) or Tamarind (tequila, tamarind, lime, chili). As for small bites, order mini beef empanadas, a charcuterie plate, or the whitefish dip with salt & pepper crackers.
The speakeasy was created by Philippe Boujnah (who lives above the space) and Anna Bazhenova after recognizing the neighborhood was in desperate need of a bodega or little shop. The two went a step beyond and made a space for their guests to feel instantly comfortable with its living room vibe to relax and have a drink.
The space’s maximalist decor is warm and inviting and the art was even done by a friend of Boujnah and Bazhenova, Aicha Zarrouk.
After you finish your drinks, don’t forget to grab any last minute items at the bodega front on your way out. Seriously, what’s better than finishing up some small errands and having a fun night out all in one!?
