Not your everyday “It’s Showtime” performance, these world class dancers took over the new 34th St – Hudson Yard station to perform this love letter to the old Hollywood musicals.
Justin Peck, New York City Ballet choreographer, will launch his new ballet, “The Times Are Racing,” at Lincoln Center next week. This video teaser features Peck and Robbie Fairchild, NYCB principal dancer giving us a taste of what’s to come this ballet season.
In an interview with the New York Times Peck said:
“We spent a long time trying to find the right location for the film […] To me, it was very important to capture the dance in one single take — in the same vein as how those classic Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly dance numbers were filmed. We ended up shooting the sequence twelve times, and finally got it on the last take of the day.”
Accompanied by music from the Dan Deacon, the energetic tune and performance will definitely wet your appetite for an amazing NYC Ballet’s season. Check out the video here:
