A recent study done by mental health site Mental Health Rehabs has revealed that, while not the happiest, New York has ranked among the happiest states in the US.
The study took the percentage reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of people over 18 who were told to have a form of depression and compared it to the population of each state. Those that had lower percentages were considered to be the happiest in the country.
According to the results, New York tied with Florida for fifth place, with 17.8% of residents having depression.
The study writes that the reason New Yorkers may experience lower depression rates can be due to the state’s abundance of mental health services, cultural diversity, and wealth of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Plus, NYC recently ranked among the best cities for quality of life in the US, and us New Yorkers apparently have some of the best work/life balance in the country!
