We’ve been tracking this opening since it was only a rumor back in 2017, but now…the day has arrived. Nutella will officially open in NYC tomorrow, November 14.
It was officially announced in June by Ferrero that a Nutella Cafe would indeed be opening in the city, making it the second shop in the U.S. According to their announcement, the decision for an NYC location came after the success of pop-ups, their Nutella Bar in Eataly, and the popularity of the world’s very first Nutella Cafe, which opened in Chicago May of 2017. And we’re so ready for it!
We imagine tomorrow will be madness with lines we’ll have to see to believe, but that’s not stopping us.
The 2,2000-square-foot space located at 116 University Place will feature a “Create Your Own” station where customers can choose between a handful of options as a base—crepes, polenta pancakes, croissant French toast, and waffles, to name only a few—which will of course come with a helping of Nutella, and can also be filled with various fruits before being topped again with a variety of menu items like gelato!
Additionally, there will be a station serving frozen Nutella push-pops…and this is only the tip of the iceberg. Other menu items will include things like a gelato brioche sandwich (two caramelized brioche buns filled with a glorious helping of their Nutella Gelato),and a Panzanella Fruit Salad (cubed pieces of pound cake with yogurt, mixed berries, and drizzled with Nutella). Espresso, merchandise, and personalized Nutella jars will also be available at the new shop.
If you’re willing to wait the inevitable line, the doors will open to the public at noon on Wednesday!
