This year for Air Max Day, Nike is launching an Air Gallery in New York City.
For this event celebrating the next generation of Nike Air, Nike partnered with local artists to create works “using the Air Max 270 as their inspiration.”
Artists being featured at the NYC Air Gallery include LilKool, Adam Lucas, Shaun Crawford, Kacper Abolik, Boy Kong, Malik Roberts, Buckley, and Distortedd. The idea behind having these artists develop work around the Air Max 270 is, as Nike explains:
“Inspired by Air, it’s their creativity, passion and community that moves us and together we move New York City.”
The gallery opens today (March 26) and will run through Saturday (March 31) at 39 S. 5th Street in Brooklyn.
Along with this gallery, Nike is also holding ON AIR creative sessions where participants were asked to submit their Air Max concepts to take part in this program. The Nike: ON AIR program would turn “imagination into reality” by transforming the concepts into a 3D design people can vote on. The winning design will be produced and available for purchase at a future date.
