Governor Cuomo has partnered with the meditation app Headspace in order to give New Yorkers another outlet to help with mental health issues during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We can’t underestimate the extreme emotional trauma that many people are feeling now,” he Tweeted after the announcement in yesterday’s press conference. “We thank Headspace for their partnership to offer New Yorkers much-needed free meditation and mindfulness content as a mental health resource.”
In the special New York section of the website, at Headspace.NY, they have a range of resources. You can select personalized meditations called “Stressed,” “Focus,” “Guided,” “Taking a break,” and “Restore.” There are also special experiences to help with Sleep, videos for general Mindful Living, meditations for children, and special mindfulness exercises including a “Reframing Anxiety Workout.”
They are also offering free access to Headspace Plus for all U.S. healthcare professionals working in public health settings.
This is in addition to the Emotional Support Hotline that is open seven days a week at 1-844-863-9314.
