A South Korean cafe in Seoul now lets you drink, work, and sit inside a New York-themed subway station—and it legitimately looks right out of New York!
Named Drunken Bean, the cafe definitely takes themed ambience to the next level with a full replica train, turnstiles to enter into the seating area, custom cafe MetroCards served with your order and more.
Those who have never been to New York will be able to get a taste of the NYC subway experience (minus all of the unwanted chaos) and those who have visited will be transported right back.
Reviews of Drunken Bean rave about the cafe’s interior and fabulous coffee. The menu offers all of the typical items at any given cafe like espresso, lattes, and so on, in addition to New York-themed treats like New York-style cheesecake and a cookie inspired by Levain Bakery.
However, Drunken Bean doesn’t stop there. It’s also a whiskey bar! Customers can order single malts, beer from Founders Brewery, and bourbon at the bar. Plus, their signature cold brew is made from aged coffee beans that have soaked in whiskey for 45 days.
And though native New Yorkers would never dream of eating and spending more time in the subway than they have to, it’s undeniable that this romanticized version is quite charming.
For those who live in Seoul or anyone who is planning to make a trip out there, you can find this New York-themed cafe in a five-story building near Sinnonhyeon Station. The address is Seocho-gu Sapyeong-daero 55 Gil 56 (서울 서초구 사평대로55길 56).
