Take me out to the ball game sounds charming in theory–until you’re actually trying to get to the ball game. Between subway delays, Grand Central traffic, and a sea of jerseys all heading in the same direction, commuting to the stadium can feel like a sport of its own. The good news? This season, Mets fans are getting a few more ways to make the trip to the ballpark a little less chaotic.
The area around Citi Field is in the middle of its transformation into a full-fledged sports and entertainment district–great news for the future of the neighborhood, but slightly less fun for fans currently navigating the construction maze on game days.
To help smooth things out, the New York Mets just unveiled a slate of new and expanded transportation options, aimed at making it easier–and more reliable–for fans to get to Citi Field this season. Think: more flexibility, fewer transit headaches, and hopefully a little less pre-first-pitch stress.
From $5 LIRR discounts to a brand-new “Citi Field Direct” shuttle service, here’s everything you need to know about getting to the ballpark in 2026.

🗺️ Personalized Travel Planning
The Mets have launched a dedicated site–accessible via the MLB Ballpark App or in your transportation-specific Know-Before-You-Go email–that acts as your personal game day travel agent.
It uses real time data to create custom routes that include Mets-specific options you won’t find on Google Maps.
🚌 The New “Citi Field Direct” Shuttles
Forget fighting the BQE. A new shuttle service will now run directly to the ballpark from designated hubs including:
- Long Island: Roosevelt Field Mall & Walt Whitman Shops
- New Jersey: Paramus Park & Newport Centre
- The Bronx/Westchester: The Mall at Bay Plaza
All shuttles are comfortable and climate-controlled coach buses. Tickets are just $8 per person or $22 for a four-pack.
🚗 Serious Parking Perks
If you must drive, don’t just wing it.
- Pre-Paid Parking: you can now secure a spot for $40 in advance, which guarantees a faster entry lane
- 50% Off Off-Site Parking: save half the cash by parking at Skyview Mall, Flushing Commons, or Flushing Plaza. These lots are just a short walk or a one-stop 7 train ride away
You can still pay $50 for drive-up parking, but due to the ongoing transformation of the surrounding area parking will be more limited. Pre-paid parking is the best way for fans to guarantee a spot.
🚲 More Ways to Move
- Rideshare Zone: a newly designated zone with better lighting and signage will make calling an Uber or Lyft way less stressful post-game
- Bikes & Scooters: the stadium is adding more bike racks and boosting Citi Bike dock capacity to accommodate the two-wheeled crowd
Executive VP of Ballpark Operations, Katie Haas, noted that while the neighborhood’s long-term transformation is exciting, the priority right now is “greater flexibility” for the fans navigating today’s changes.
