The New York Jets are having quite the off-season already, cutting ties with wide receiver Davante Adams and letting go of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Today, it’s being reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Jets have signed their new starting quarterback, Justin Fields, during free agency.
The two have reportedly agreed to a two-year, $40 million deal with $30 million of that being guaranteed.
Fields spent last season as the backup quarterback on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and three seasons before that with (and being drafted in 2021 by) the Chicago Bears.
The Ohio State alum is set to re-link with his former Buckeye teammate on the Jets, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who he spent both 2019 and 2020 seasons lighting up the NCAA with.
As for the rest of the team, with now QB, RB, and WR locked up, expect the Jets to bolster their offense a little more with another WR and TE throughout free agency and the upcoming draft.
This is set to be a debut quarterback for new Head Coach Aaron Glenn’s inaugural season.
