New York Fashion Week is as glamorous as you’d imagine. From stunning designs and chic streetwear to celebrity appearances, the celebration transforms the whole city into a catwalk.
Last year marked a first for the seasoned occasion: a round of free, public screenings of runway shows, courtesy of Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Rockefeller Center. (We’re hoping for the same this year and will keep you posted!)
What is New York Fashion Week?
New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is a longstanding tradition in NYC that takes place in both February and September and allows designers to showcase their collections for the season ahead.
The entire fashion world — designers, buyers, PR reps, editors — make their way to various shows to catch what the creatives have cooking before their garments hit the shelves. This history spans back all the way to the time of the second World War with Eleanor Lambert at the helm of bringing American designers to the forefront of the fashion scene.
When is New York Fashion Week 2025?
New York Fashion Week runs from February 6th to February 11th, 2025. According to the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), there will be 54 shows this year. You can have a look at the complete NYFW calendar on the CFDA website.
Where is New York Fashion Week 2025?
New York Fashion Week has had many iconic homes throughout the city: Bryant Park, Lincoln Center. Now, RXR’s Starrett-Lehigh Building serves as the main headquarters, though plenty of designers and industry folks take their celebrations and runway shows off the premises.
How can I get New York Fashion Week tickets?
NYFW tickets are a hot commodity, much like the designs themselves.
While industry shows are limited to experts in the field, you can snag tickets to some of the public shows online. NYFW also curates its own designer packages that includes VIP experiences like front-row seats and meet and greets. FYI, it’ll cost ya!
Where else can I watch it?
If you can’t make it to the catwalk, there is a way to get a sneak peek at the gorgeous outfits. Visit NYFW’s website for streaming options, which are both live and archived from previous years.
In 2024, Rockfeller Center became the place to catch free screenings for NYFW moving forward, as its September partnership with the CFDA allowed for free, public screenings of American shows right in the attraction’s skating rink.
“New York Fashion Week is a cultural cornerstone of the city and should be celebrated by all,” Steven Kolb, CFDA CEO, said in a statement. “As the official organizer of NYFW, CFDA is thrilled to be working with Rockefeller Center to stream the fashion shows to the public, giving New Yorkers and visitors a front-row seat to the creativity and innovation of American fashion.”
No word yet on whether the 2025 shows will be available at 30 Rock, but watch this space for further updates.
Which shows should I keep an eye on?
There’s plenty to keep an eye on this season: Anna Sui, Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Coach, Prabal Gurung, Tory Burch, and Ulla Johnson, to name a few.
Newcomers to the show this year include Alexis Bittar, Gabe Gordon, LEBLANCSTUDIOS by Yamil Arbaje and Angelo Beato, Vettese, and Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen.
