A new study is only inflating our ego more after finding out that New York is home to the second sexiest accent in America.
PennStakes utilized Brandwatch to perform social listening research on 50 of the most common accents in the country. From there, they filtered each accent online by the amount of positive keywords they received over a year in terms of attractiveness. These keywords included: “sexiest”; “charming; “attractive”; “sexy”; “hot”; “erotic”; “naughty”; “provocative”; “seductive”; “sensual”; “sensuous”‘ “suggestive”; “titillating.”
The results considered whichever accent received the highest volume of the aforementioned keywords the most attractive or sexy.
We did mention that New York got second, not first, and that’s because a southern accent took the crown for America’s sexiest. A southern accent received the highest keyword count with a score of 76,940. Something about the drawl just screams hospitable, charming and dependable.
New York followed not far behind with a score of 70,460. The study noted New York’s unmistakable dropping of the “R” that’s been a staple for numerous characters and stars on TV and in films. The accent exudes confidence with a “gritty allure and urban robustness” that definitely brings up its sexy points.
It’s refreshing having a study finally praise our urban robustness after Highland Titles had deemed New York as the least attractive accent in the world last year. We’ll choose to believe PennStakes!
A California accent took third, with a Texan and Boston accent rounding out the top 5 sexiest in America, in that order.
