Bonberi Bodega is one of the newest “bodegas” to open in NYC. At least, we think?
This place definitely isn’t your typical neighborhood bodega but, we’ll take it. The locale opened on September 24 at 384 Bleecker Street and is redefining what you might find in a traditional corner shop. The space is open, airy and full of light and has the most random healthy options you could hope to find ranging from Megababe’s aluminum-free rose deodorant to Tenoverten’s non-toxic nail polish, to all- natural sprinkles.
To top it off, a refrigerator of juices, freshly made meals -think quinoa bibimbap- and home baked treats round out a delicious array of healthy offerings.
According to a recent article by Vogue, “the founder and editor of healthy lifestyle website Bonberi opened Bonberi Bodega in a well-lit corner shop… Half of the space belongs to her for the next six months and the other half to a florist business called Fleurotica. Together, their occupancy is part of the Love, Bleecker revitalization project, a real estate endeavor that is aiming to bring shoppers back to this once-vibrant retail street.”
So there is a method behind the madness. Although the New Yorker inside is screaming that this place is definitely NOT a bodega, it’s pretty nice so we’ll cut it some slack.
