The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the epitome of Thanksgiving in NYC, getting us all officially into holiday mode.
Year after year we’re blown away by all the amazing–and gigantic–balloons we see floating through the city. And while we can always count on our returning favs, we’re also surprised with new ones each year!
Here are the new balloons you’ll see parading through the city streets this Thanksgiving:
Beagle Scout Snoopy
Beagle Scout Snoopy is the 9th iteration of the parade’s longest-running character balloon. The new balloon is actually the length of 17 beagles and will honor the 50th Anniversary of the Beagle Scouts first appearance in Charles M. Schulz’s comic strip.
- 55 feet tall
- 42 feet long
- 34 feet wide (that’s the width of 5 taxi cabs!)
Blue Cat & Chugs
The 2013 comic character, Blue Cat & Chugs will make their debut at the parade after winning a fan vote for the first-ever NFT Parade balloon.
- 34 feet tall
- 36 feet long
- 27 feet wide
Monkey D. Luffy
Monkey D. Luffy is the main character of the animated series One Piece. In search of pirate treasure, he is the leader of the Straw Hat Crew. He will be painted in over 20 different colors.
- 50 feet tall
- 43 feet long
- 39 feet wide
These new balloons will, of course, join returning favorites, such as Bluey, Greg Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Chase from PAW Patrol® by Nickelodeon, and Spongebob Squarepants & Gary by Nickelodeon.
Whether you’re lucky (and brave) enough to bare the cold to see the parade in person, or you watch it on TV in the warmth of your home while getting started on your Thanksgiving day feast, one things for sure–the Thanksgiving Day Parade is definitely a spectacle that cannot be missed!
