Cockroaches. They never die…and neither does love, right?
The Bronx Zoo is back with their “Name a Roach” program just in time for Valentines Day. Forget expressing your love with flowers, do it with a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach instead. The event happens annually just before V-Day, allowing people to choose if they’d like to name one of the zoo’s many cockroaches after a loved one or a slimy ex.
An annual tradition now at the Bronx Zoo, the Name-a-Roach program has been incredibly popular over the years. With a $15 donation you’ll be able to name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after a loved one, or, as in many years past, a pesky ex. Along with the naming rights, the donation will also get you a digital certificate to present to your cockroach’s namesake.
This year the zoo is also offering options! For “The Works” (with a $75 donation) you can get aa beanie, mug, and roach pin along with the printed certificate. Other item combinations range from $30 to $55 donations, too.
A roach pin for that person you love (or used to)… because, what says “our love is eternal” more than a pin of a creature that would survive a nuclear winter?
A roach beanie to keep your head warm all winter, so you can also survive the brutal weather.
A roach mug. Because seeing roaches as you drink your morning coffee isn’t terrifying or anything…although, this could be perfect if you’re trying to give your ex the gift of temporary anxiety or a potential freak out.
Whether it’s a gift for a special someone or some sweet revenge for an ex-special someone, the Bronx Zoo has you covered.
