Now that the weather is cold and icy, you’re probably looking for more indoor activities for entertainment.
Though you can always go to the movies, there’s nothing quite like attending live performances in a theater. And, there’s no theater quite like Broadway.
So, we’ve rounded up some of the best shows to take a look at this winter! There’s no need to stay at home when there are so many fantastic performances to go see.
1. Jagged Little Pill
Alanis Morissette’s iconic music (or should we say, Ironic music?) combined with legendary director Diane Paulus promises a non-stop rock musical event.
When: Opens this Thursday, Dec. 5.
Where: Broadhurst Theatre at 235 W 44th St.
Tickets: Purchase tickets here.
2. Moulin Rouge! The Musical
Take a trip to glamorous Paris with the Broadway version of Baz Luhrmann’s cinematic masterpiece. They’ve kept the songs we love from the movie (Come What Mayyyy) and also added in songs from some of today’s most popular artists.
When: Open now.
Where: Al Hirschfeld Theatre at 302 W 45th St.
Tickets: Purchase tickets here.
3. Frozen
Perfect for kids and adults alike! This is one play that will definitely put you in the mood for winter weather.

Where: St. James Theatre at 246 W 44th St.
Tickets: Purchase tickets here.
4. Tootsie
The script for this other movie-turned-show is downright hilarious (hence why its writer won the Tony Award this year). It closes Jan. 5 so get on it!
When: Open now, but closes Jan. 5.
Where: The Marquis Theater at 210 W 46th St.
Tickets: Purchase tickets here.
5. Oklahoma!
This modern production really digs into the darker parts of the traditional musical. It also closes in January, so purchase them asap!
When: Open now, but closes Jan. 19.
Where: The Circle in the Square Theater at 1633 Broadway.
Tickets: Purchase tickets here.
6. Beetlejuice
Even though Halloween is over, that doesn’t mean you should miss out on the creepy crawly experience of seeing Beetlejuice the Musical. The New York Times called it “a jaw-dropping funhouse.”
When: Open now.
Where: Winter Garden Theater, 1634 Broadway
Tickets: Purchase tickets here.
7. The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical
If you have young friends or family who grew up with the Rick Riordan series (the author has approved the production), this is a great call. The set and props are very pared down, leaving all the more room for the teens and their angst!
When: Open now.
Where: Longacre Theatre, 220 W 48th S.
8. Slave Play
It’s a bit heavier than the rest of the shows on this list, but that doesn’t mean it should be passed up. This lauded show sheds light on the complex issues of race, gender and equality.
When: Open now, but closes Jan. 19.
Where: John Golden Theatre, 252 West 45th St.
9. Hadestown
It won the Tony Awards this year for Best Musical, Best Director, Best Featured Actor and more! How could you pass that up?

10. West Side Story
Another Broadway classic that is getting re-made with a timely twist! This version by Belgian Ivo van Hove, who recently did the reimagined and critically reviewed remakes of The Crucible and A View From the Bridge, opens next week for previews.
When: Previews open Dec. 10, show opens Feb. 6.
Where: Broadway Theatre, 1681 Broadway
