NYC’s most anticipated cultural festival is gearing up to return this June: the Museum Mile Festival.
Each year, a stretch of Fifth Avenue transforms into what’s essentially the city’s largest cultural block party. While the streets shut down to traffic, the museums throw their doors open, giving New Yorkers a rare chance to explore art, history, and pop culture for free during extended evening hours.
The festival dates back to 1978, originally launched to raise awareness of the city’s institutions and build public support for the arts. Since then, it has drawn more than two million visitors.
Now in its 48th year, the event returns with a packed lineup of art-focused activities, live music, food vendors, and more along Fifth Avenue between 82nd and 110th Streets–a stretch officially known as “Museum Mile” for its remarkable cultural richness and diversity.
