We can now gush over way more than stocking up on our favorite pens and notebooks at MUJI as the beloved Japanese retailer has officially opened MUJI Food Market, a food court serving everything from Japanese-style sandwiches to Japanese rice balls.
MUJI Food Market follows the success of its newly opened MUJI Market, a new concept space that will house various conceptual collections, community activations, and support local initiatives in the historic Chelsea Market. MUJI Market offers a diverse selection of MUJI’s products including the recently launched MUJI Labo collection, stationery, home goods, beauty products, décor, Japanese snacks, and more.
The food market builds on the shelf-stable snacks and pantry products already on the shelves in its Chelsea location. It offers seating around a seven-seat bar counter and presents a space for visitors to enjoy Japanese comfort foods, whether you’re hanging for a bit or grabbing a bite on-the-go.
Foodies can enjoy a selection of onigiri, including spicy tuna, tuna mayo, salmon, and more, Japanese curry cups, miso soup, dorayaki, pastries, and more.
Beyond the bites you can also grab yourself a specialty coffee, like a black sesame latte or honey yuzu tea, served by Jarvis the barista, an AI-powered coffee-making robot similar to the robot-run coffee shop in Brooklyn.
Muji Food Market is now officially open daily inside Chelsea Market from 11 am to 5 pm. The location marks the retailer’s first ever food market in the U.S. Richard Rappaport, MUJI President, North America, stated:
We are excited to bring these new and exciting concepts to Chelsea Market, which are natural extensions of MUJI’s mission to create simple, functional and inviting spaces. As a dynamic hub for creativity and connection, Chelsea Market is the perfect setting for visitors to enjoy our curated shopping experience, savor authentic Japanese cuisine, and connect with the community.
