In a new study, photography and design company Printique analyzed Instagram hashtags for 60 top landmarks across America, and NYC had four entries in the top 10 — and also took the number one spot.
Can you guess what it is? Locals won’t be happy to hear this!
It’s Times Square.
The “crossroads of the world” came in top place with 4,666,622 total hashtags since Instagram started in 2010, and an average of 410,438 hashtags each year. It was quickly followed by Arizona’s The Grand Canyon, with 4,072,356 total hashtags and 358,171 per year.
What other NYC landmarks made the list?
The Brooklyn Bridge came in at number three with 3,568,276 total hashtags and 313,836 per year, followed by the Empire State Building with 3,023,470 total and 265,920 yearly, and lastly the Statue of Liberty with 2,130,375 total and 187,370 per year.
Some other U.S. spots that made the list are: the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Yosemite National Park in California, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, the Space Needle in Washington, and L.A.’s Hollywood Sign.
But, with three landmarks in the top five most hashtagged, New York is undoubtedly the most Instagrammable state overall!
