NYC’s annual Pride March has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean we’ve had enough of all the events celebrating Pride–and for one more week a pop-up museum celebrating all things drag is calling Brooklyn home.
MoDRAG has launched its inaugural exhibition in Brooklyn where the past, present, and future of drag is being celebrated.
Visitors will be treated to multimedia exhibitions from around the world, including photography by Jude Vadée, whose images explore notions of gender and sexuality, identity and performance, and intimacy and relationships, as well as various drag artifacts.
Plus weekly lectures and performances by drag artists & herstorians give visitors first-hand insight into the culture and history of drag.
And, of course, you’ll be able to take a piece of the museum home with you with a quick stop to their gagworthy gift shop.
The museum was created by a number of curators and artists including NYC-based theater artist, musician, and drag demon Dmitri Barcomi, NY-based drag artist Gina Tonic, theater artist DeVante Lewis, and Berlin-based curator and drag artist Louison Jenkins.
The best part–entrance to the museum and its events are by suggested donation, so the chance to shantay your way into the world of drag is available to all.
MoDRAG will be at at Brick Aux Gallery (628 Metropolitan Ave) through Tuesday, July 4. It’s open Thursdays and Fridays 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
