We may have to wait until next year to get Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway, but the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling has already arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art!
Nomajes (Why can’t we me muggles too, Rowling?) in NYC were left with little to look forward to when it was announced that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child wouldn’t come to Broadway until 2018. Thankfully, now we don’t have to wait a year to get a little if that Potter magic in our lives.
“Griffins, Goblets and Gold” is a new Potter-themed tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, run by Et Cetera Events. It offers Potterheads the chance to take a guided walk through the museum’s halls, stopping along the way to marvel at items in the collection, and parts of the museum itself that could have come directly from J.K Rowling’s iconic books. Form Hogwarts-style staircases to items that could be Horcruxes. As E.T.C say on their site:
Look at real-life artwork that resembles objects in the books. Discover a real castle…right in the Met. Search for Horcruxes. And more! All houses welcome. Accio Met!
The tour was designed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first book’s publication, and thanks to the books age and varied fanbase, the experience isn’t only for kids. Yeah, we grown-ups can get in on the action too!
The public tour is priced at $25 for kids and $35 for adults. For those who want a private tour, prices are set at $35 per child and $45 per adult. You can find more information, and buy tickets on e.t.c.’s official site.
