Yes, it’s official, The Mean Girls musical is coming to Broadway next spring.
The musical will debut in Washington, D.C. at the National Theatre on October 31 and go on to December 3. After a brief repose, the show will arrive in NYC on March 12 for preview performances before officially opening on April 8, 2018.
The show isn’t identical to the movie, they have brought the story into 2017 (or 2018 by the time it gets here). I know what you’re thinking. GOD NOOOO THEY’RE GOING TO RUIN MY CHILDHOOD! Don’t worry, Tina Fey, the original screenwriter for the film, is on board for the musical’s script as well. Fey is joined by her composer husband, Jeff Richardson who will be creating the music for the show.
Are you screaming “shut up and take my money” yet? We’ll if you are, American Express pre-sales begins tomorrow (September 10) and public tickets go on sale on October 3.
