Pam Wiznitzer’s Near and Far

This beverage consultant’s Instagram feed is nothing short of hilarious, but also impressively helpful if you’re into DIY drinks. @PamWiz has built a following by sharing everything from quirky, upbeat reels about her life as a beverage consultant to mixology tips, along with unique, original recipes for followers to try at home.
For the fall cocktail you didn’t know you needed, look no further than Wiznitzer’s Near and Far. Her NYC twist on a classic Whisky Highball incorporates local ingredients and Maker’s Mark Bourbon, along with strong ginger and apple overtones which give the drink a warm, autumnal fragrance. Plus, the Near and Far can be modified for a low- to no-proof variation depending on your personal preference!
Near and Far
Ingredients:
- 1 or 2 Parts Maker’s Mark infused with Nepali Breakfast Tea* (Just add a pinch of tea to your Maker’s Mark pour, and let sit for 10 minutes before straining)
- 0.5 part Lemon Juice
- 1.5 parts AVEC Ginger Soda
- 1.5 parts RedJacket Apple Cider
- Apple slices or apple cider donut holes for garnish
Preparation:
Fill a cocktail shaker and highball glass with ice. Add lemon juice, apple cider, and tea-infused Maker’s Mark, and shake until cold. Add ginger soda to shaker and strain into highball glass. Garnish with apple slices or apple cider donut holes!
Anthony Bates’ Á la Manhattan

If you’ve got a thing for sleek, curated cocktails that are equally as delicious as they are aesthetically pleasing, stop what you’re doing and follow @thegrandiosebartender on IG. Bates’ feed proves that he’s no stranger to the art of upscale beverages, with exquisite original recipes and impressively thoughtful captions that are sure to give you tons of creative inspo next time you reach for the cocktail shaker.
The Harlem-based mixologist’s Á la Manhattan is the ideal sip for raising your #ToastToNYC, using Maker’s Mark 46 for an updated riff on a classic Manhattan. A few dashes of absinthe and the sweetness of apricot give Bates’ Á La Louisiane-inspired cocktail some added complexity, while toasty hints of French oak from the Maker’s Mark 46 Bourbon make for even more defined layers of caramel and baking spice.
Á la Manhattan
Ingredients:
- 2 parts Maker’s Mark 46
- 1 part Sweet Vermouth
- 3 dashes Absinthe
- 0.5 part Apricot Liqueur
- Brandied cherry for garnish
Preparation:
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
Joanna Lin’s Maker on Mott

The Penicillin Cocktail has become an NYC staple, but Lin is serving up her own fresh take as an homage to her Chinatown roots and Lower East Side “stomping grounds.” Named after Mott Street, the thoroughfare hailed as Chinatown’s unofficial “Main Street,” Lin’s Maker on Mott introduces mezcal and ginger bitters to this classic, aromatic formula.

Ingredients:
- 1.5 parts Maker’s Mark
- 0.5 part Mezcal
- 1 part Lemon Juice
- 1/2 part Cheeky Cocktail Co. Honey-Ginger Syrup
- 1 dash Hella Cocktail Co. Ginger Bitters
- Candied ginger for garnish
Preparation:
Add Maker’s Mark, mezcal, lemon juice, and honey-ginger syrup into a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Add 1 dash of Five Spice bitters. Garnish with candied ginger.
