It’s beginning to look a lot like…the holiday season in NYC!
Macy’s Herald Square is gearing up to unveil their stunning holiday window displays today, and that means the holidays are officially here! Though there doesn’t appear to be a grand reveal this year to help discourage crowds from forming, the flagship store’s Broadway windows will be available for viewing from today Thursday, November 19 through January 1, and will be the first of the unveilings this season (Saks is set to start on Monday!).
This year’s holiday windows are titled “Give, Love, Believe,” and the six iconic frames will serve as a thank you to essential workers during this year.
According to Macy’s Vice President of Visual Merchandising, Scott Devine, the store wanted to “thank first responders, essential workers and everyday New Yorkers who came together this year to support each other and the city we call home. With a dose of whimsy and a dash of sparkle, we hope our love letter serves to enchant, delight and honor our fellow New Yorkers as we celebrate the holidays.” He pointed out that the Macy’s windows are a seamless part of NYC and this year “reflect the power, grit and spirit of our resilient community.”
The windows will bring together interactive elements in an artistic way that’ll connect to people of all ages. According to NBC New York, you can expect to see beautiful neon colored LED lights with “Thank You” written in different languages interwoven through city scenes, Macy’s elves creating giant thank you signs, and images of the city clapping for essential workers. The sixth and final scene invites passersby to spell “Thank You” out on a digital screen. How sweet!
