We’re less than a month away from the most dazzling spectacle of the year… Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, the largest Independence Day celebration in the country.
Each year, Macy’s launches tens of thousands of shells and effects over the city—but this year, there’s a twist! Macy’s will be returning to the Hudson River after 11 years of launching the fireworks from the East River. It hasn’t been since 2013 that the West Side (and not to forget Jersey) was privy to such prime viewing.
What is the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks?
The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are one of the largest firework shows in the naition, thanks to the over 60,00 shells and effects that will be launched from barges in NYC waters in 30 shapes and colors.
“This year’s Macy’s 4th of Fireworks display will launch an inspiring spectacle of patriotic color, light and sound from the Hudson River for the first time in more than a decade…the display will offer a showstopping and high-flying salute to the nation,” said Will Coss, Executive Producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks. “Each year the talented artisans and specialists at Macy’s Studios work alongside our partners at Pyro Spectaculars by Souza to find creative and innovative ways to paint the night sky and awe our live spectators and viewers from around the country on NBC. Following last year’s first of its kind drone display, our team has been hard at work developing new ways to surprise and delight our fans.”

The 48th annual Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks will take place around 9:25 pm on Thursday night, July 4, 2024.
Where are the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks?
After many years of being launched in the East River, the 2024 fireworks will take place on the West Side this year in the Hudson River. There will be dedicated areas for public viewing in Manhattan managed by the NYPD, spanning from West 14th and West 34th Streets. There will also be great viewing areas in New Jersey along the water in Hoboken, Jersey City, etc. The spectacle can also be streamed on NBC & Peacock from 8pm – 10pm ET.

Who is performing at the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks?
This year’s musical lineup features Lainey Wilson, Luis Fonsi, Tanner Adell and the War and Treaty. The 25 minute score will “reimagine and remix iconic American tunes across a variety of genres and decades, interweaving patriotic anthems with contemporary hits,” according to NBC’s release.
