Fall is officially here, and tours are filling up fast at one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions.
Overlooking the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York, the Lyndhurst Mansion is the perfect autumn day trip.
Alexander Jackson Davis designed the estate in 1838. Today, it is famous for its architectural brilliance and park-like landscape.
This October, the sprawling property is hosting a massive lineup of seasonal events. You can take a tour, attend a special event, or just walk the picturesque gardens.
Here is everything happening at the mansion this month:
Step inside an Edgar Allan Poe horror story
Experience an evening of dread and intrigue from October 15th to October 30th. The mansion will transform into Prince Prospero’s Abbey for The Masque of the Red Death.
Produced by the Irvington Shakespeare Company, this immersive theater experience takes you through the Gothic halls of the 1842 historic home.

Tickets are $45, and performances step off every 20 minutes for a private group experience.
A spooky trick-or-treat weekend
Grab your costumes for a family-friendly trick-or-treating weekend on October 17th and 18th. Kids can follow a map for candy nestled amongst the spooky trees.
Modern Marionette will host a puppet show at 12:30 pm on Saturday, and face painters will be on-site Sunday from 12 pm to 2 pm.
Families can also explore the decorated mansion during this ‘Roam on Your Own’ weekend, allowing you to move at your own pace.
A massive three-day gothic market

The famous Gothic Market weekend is back and spanning three days from October 23rd to 25th.
More than 50 vendors will sell curated antiques, gothic jewelry, and witchy wares in the Pavilion. You can satisfy your autumnal cravings with seasonal food offerings in the Harvest Tasting Room.
There will also be food trucks at the Bowling Alley, including Captain Lawrence and Jimmy’s Ice Cream.
Adult tickets are $35, which grants timed entry to the first and second floors of the decorated mansion.
