Brooklyn Botanic Garden is starting to hit its spring peak.
Between the rare corpse plant blooming a few months ago and the upcoming prospect of glistening cherry blossoms, there’s never been a better time to visit. (No really, the spring is our favorite time to go).
To add another reason to go, BBG is set to revive their moving sound installation called loved. starting this weekend on March 15th.
In order to honor and remember on the fifth anniversary of the COVID-19 crisis, the installation invites garden-goers to pause and reflect on the groundbreaking era for our world and those that were lost.
“In this city so filled with many different people, the common thread of those lost to Covid was that they were loved,” said NYC-based composer Michael Gordon who created the installation back in 2021.
“As a way to reach out to those impacted by loss, to those seeking a few moments to sit and think and remember, I sought to create a space where the memory of those loved ones could be honored.”
The sound installation will play hourly on Cherry Esplanade from March 15 – 30, 2025, from 10 am to 5 pm.
An additional special live performance by a 42-piece ensemble Mantra Percussion will take place Saturday, March 22 on the hour from 12 pm – 4 pm.
loved. is included free with Garden admission.
