According to a new report, Boeing has debuted a hypersonic passenger plane concept that could get you from London to New York in two hours. Weekend plans anyone?
Boeing has joined forces with hypersonic specialists to study the development of a passenger aircraft that would be able to cross the Atlantic in just two hours, or the Pacific in three. The initial concept was unveiled at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics conference which was held in Atlanta this week.
This potential aircraft would travel at speeds of 3,836 miles per hour and cruise at around 95,000 feet. “When you look at the problem of getting from Point A to Point B anywhere in the world, the question is how fast do you want to go and how fast is fast enough?” said Boeing’s senior technical fellow and chief scientist, Kevin Bowcutt.
Don’t get too excited though, the current plan claims that it could to take anywhere from 20-30 years before the plane could make it off the ground. For when it does, we’ll be ready to travel!
