You might know them from their adorable petite croissant cereal that completely broke the internet, and now, they’re becoming bi-borough! L’Appartement 4F, which started as an in-home bakery which expanded into a Brooklyn Heights storefront, has plans to open their first Manhattan location.
According to their Instagram post, owners and husband and wife duo, Ashley and Gautier Coiffard just recently signed the lease. The new location appears to be a beautiful space with two enormous windows, sure to bring in that same dreamy sunlight that can be found in the original brick-and-mortar bakery location.
“When we delivered pastries during the pandemic, we had an overwhelming amount of orders in the WV. I fell in love with this location as soon as we saw it, and when we heard it was James Beards’ old apartment, it was a sign. Gautier also saw that it was a bakery about 100 years ago while filing paperwork,” Ashley wrote in the caption.
So not only will more New Yorkers get the chance to try their mouthwatering breads and pastries, but the building’s historical role will even be revived.
Until the highly-anticipated opening, New Yorkers can still grab their bakery essentials from the Brooklyn Heights store or choose to experience their newly operating wine bar. Open on Thursdays, the original bakery gets transformed into a moody French bistro, offering up a curated selection of wines to pair with their homemade slowly-fermented sourdough bread, cheeses and other assorted bites.
