Public Advocate Letitia James released her annual list of the 100 worst landlords yesterday. The list is intended to be a tool for potential tenants to know which landlords and buildings to avoid. The list does provide a very public “shaming” of unscrupulous landlords and, as stated in the advocates site, “hold the city’s worst landlords accountable and to empower tenants and advocates.”
The “Worst Landlord Watchlist” compiled the list using data from the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the Department of Buildings and the Department of Finance.
See if your landlord made the list HERE, and if s/he isn’t, count yourself lucky.
