Beloved Adirondacks outpost, Lake Placid is officially gearing up for its legendary annual Fourth of July bash — one of, if not, the best celebration in the state.
As part of the region’s 250th anniversary events, Lake Placid is taking things to the next level with a massive hometown celebration that perfectly blends small-town USA charm with an epic Olympic legacy.
The theme for 2026 is “Rings of Independence: Celebrating 250 Years and Lake Placid’s Legacy,” and the village has an absolutely packed schedule ready for Saturday, July 4.
From fighter jet flyovers to dazzling fireworks over the water, here’s why this Adirondack oasis is the ultimate destination for a patriotic escape this weekend.
What to expect at Lake Placid’s Fourth of July Celebration
The festivities kick off in the sky!
At exactly 11:12 am, keep your eyes peeled for a roaring Vermont National Guard flyover featuring four F-35 fighter jets soaring directly over the village and the gorgeous High Peaks.
Once you have caught your breath from the aerial show, you can head right over to Mid’s Park. The All Night Boogie Band will be keeping the vibes high with live music right by the water from 1 – 4 pm!
As the afternoon winds down, you will definitely want to secure a prime viewing spot along Main Street.
The iconic Fourth of July Parade begins at 5 pm., starting on Parkside Drive near the Olympic Center and running all the way to Saranac Avenue.
This is not just any parade. Because of Lake Placid’s rich history, you will actually get to see past and present Olympians rolling through town! Following the parade, fans can head to the Olympic Oval for a special meet and greet to get posters signed by the athletes.
Evening festivities and the grand finale
The Olympic Oval is the place to be as the sun starts to set!
From 6 – 9 pm., visitors are encouraged to dress up in their best red, white, and blue gear for some patriotic inline skating.
The entire Olympic Center will be beautifully illuminated all weekend long to honor the holiday. You can even check out the massive I Love New York Horse Show happening earlier in the day at the North Elba Show Grounds to pack even more action into your itinerary.
Of course, a proper Independence Day celebration needs a spectacular grand finale.
At 9:30 pm., the legendary Set the Night to Music Fireworks Spectacular will light up the sky right over Mirror Lake.
Now in its third decade, this dazzling display is perfectly choreographed to a playlist simulcast on LAKE FM. You can tune in on portable radios or listen through speakers set up throughout the village as the colorful reflections shimmer across the water.
