Turns out those famous steps from the Joker were discovered by fans, and now all can go to take their own movie-moment photos!
Whether you’ve seen the movie yet or not, chances are you recognize this staircase from press photos and the trailer—or the epic scene itself. Considering the movie takes place in our very own Gotham City it was only a matter of time before fans started picking up on familiar places around the city where scenes were shot.
According to those who have been there (aka Instagram fans) the stairs can be found when you enter the address 1170 Shakespeare Avenue into Google Maps (which is already renamed “Joker Stairs” and considered a “Religious Destination”…). The map will guide you to a steep staircase in the Bronx, and apparently there are various other fun staircases along that same street that are worth exploring as well.
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, it’s time. The controversial Joker follows the story of a failed comedian in the 1980’s who turns to a world of crime and wreaks havoc on Gotham. Since its debut, the movie has broken box office records bringing in a whopping $96 million on opening weekend and continuing to be a huge hit globally.
Check out the movie at an AMC theater near you for $10.99 when you get your ticket, here!
