If you’re looking for a tropical vacation but rather not catch a flight, we know just the place that’s a little closer where you can have a similar experience right here in NYC!
Dining at Island Oyster makes you feel like you’ve been whisked away to a breezy beachside bar. Oh, and it gets those island vibes perfectly right because it’s actually located on an island….Governors Island!
NYC’s own island-park is open year-round, and its premiere dining destination Island Oyster is back open as well. Visit Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am-8pm, or Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm. It’s primarily a first-come, first-served venue, so reservations are not necessary.
The one-of-a-kind summer destination was even nominated for a James Beard Foundation award for Best Restaurant Design (which we definitely get).
Besides just the amazing panoramic views of New York Harbor and downtown Manhattan, it also boasts a delicious menu of refreshing cocktails like the Iko Iko with mezcal, pineapple, ginger, lime, seltzer and a delicious Aperol Spritz, plus fresh oysters (of course), Lobster Rolls and the Island Burger with hanger and brisket, muenster cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickle, and gochuchang aïoli!
And don’t forget, you’ll still need to make a ferry reservation for a specific time if you want to visit Governors Island! And after seeing these exquisite photos, of course you do…
