If you’ve ever dreamed of wandering through the endless, technicolor tulip fields of the Netherlands, you don’t need to pack a suitcase or navigate JFK to make it happen.
Just about 75 minutes NYC lies a 300-acre flower farm that feels straight out of Europe—complete with millions of vibrant blooms, a towering windmill, and rows of tulips stretching as far as the eye can see.
🇳🇱 A Piece of Holland just 75 Minutes from NYC
The Netherlands is famous for its tulip fields and iconic gardens like Keukenhof Gardens, often called the “Garden of Europe.” But at Holland Ridge Farms in Cream Ridge, NJ, that same floral magic is alive and well.
The farm’s story is as authentic as the blooms themselves.
Family patriarch Casey Jansen Sr. immigrated to the United States from the Netherlands at just 17 years old, bringing with him generations of tulip-growing knowledge. After decades of running a wholesale tulip business in New Jersey, he set out to share a piece of his homeland with the public.
In 2017, the Jansen family purchased a former dairy farm in Cream Ridge and transformed 153 acres into a breathtaking U-Pick flower farm. Today, the property has grown to nearly 300 acres of vibrant fields.

🌷 Over 8 Million Tulips (And Counting)
Holland Ridge Farms has officially become the most popular U-pick flower farm in the world, and it’s hard to grasp the scale of it until you see it in person.
- The Count: Over 8 million tulips
- The Variety: 100+ different types of flowers in every imaginable hue
- The Space: Recently doubled in size to 300 acres, ensuring there’s plenty of room for that perfect, “lost in the fields” shot
The farm is designed for wandering. Whether you’re looking for Peak Bloom (when the fields are a solid sea of color) or Opening Day (when the buds are closed and last longest in a vase), there isn’t a bad time to visit during their Spring Spectacular.

🧺 A Full Dutch-Inspired Day Trip
Visiting Holland Ridge Farms is a bucket list experience for people from the East Coast and beyond–the farm has welcomed visitors from as far as Puerto Rico.
But while the tulips are the headliners, the farm has grown into a full springtime destination, leaning heavily into the “Dutch Village” experience:
- The 100-Foot Windmill: A massive, authentic structure offering panoramic views of the floral rainbow below (free entry)
- Dutch Fest: A celebration of heritage featuring traditional food and music (dates for 2026 coming soon!)
- The Little Sprouts Zoo: Meet and feed miniature farm animals
- Floral Cocktails & Mocktails: Sip on flower-themed drinks from Dog & Ram Distillery, Blend Bar, and Rollin on the Rocks while you stroll
- Horse & Carriage & Pony Rides: For the ultimate “fairytale” aesthetic, you can clip-clop through the fields in a horse-drawn cart
- Farmers & Makers Market: Asbury Fresh will be back hosting a farmers and makers market every weekend
- Food Trucks & Bakery: Food trucks are open seven days a week along with the farm’s bakery barn

💐 Know Before You Go
The window for the tulips is short and sweet, typically running from mid-April through early May, depending on weather and bloom timing.
- Cost: Stems are just $1 (50 cents on weekdays)
- Tickets: Admission ranges from $17–$25 depending on the day. You must book an arrival time in advance, but once you’re in, you can stay until the sun sets over the petals
- Pro Tip: If you miss the spring, keep them on your radar for their Sunflower Festival in September and their Winter Wonderland from November to January
Located at 86 Rues Road in Cream Ridge, New Jersey, the farm is roughly an hour and 15 minutes from NYC, making it one of the easiest spring day trips from the city.
This spring, instead of flying to Holland, you can simply drive there! Learn more on the farm’s website.
