We all love a good city street festival, but sometimes you just need a classic country fair.
Enter the Orange County Fair in Middletown, NY. It is officially returning for its massive 186th season.
The best part? It is located just 90 minutes from NYC. The fun kicks off this summer from July 17 to August 16, 2026.
A slice of New York history
This isn’t your average pop-up carnival. Founded in 1841, this beloved event is incredibly steeped in history.
In fact, it proudly hosts the oldest continuously operating dirt track in the US. If you love vintage Americana, this is the ultimate weekend day trip. You can practically feel the legacy as you wander the fairgrounds.

Thrills, chills, and monster trucks
Get ready for some serious adrenaline. The grandstand is hosting high-octane events all week long.
You can catch flying dirt bikes at Motocross on July 23, watch massive Monster Trucks from July 24-26, or cheer on the legendary Demolition Derby on August 1.

Looking for something a little different? The fair is debuting two must-see shows this year. You can marvel at the high-flying acrobats in the Big Top Circus or hold your breath during the Wild Wheels Wall of Death motorcycle stunt show.
Of course, all the summer classics are here, too. Expect live tribute bands, Friday night fireworks, an interactive petting zoo, and an endless array of midway rides. And yes, there will be plenty of deep-fried fair food to go around.
What to know before you go
Ready to hit the road? Head straight up to 239 Wisner Ave in Middletown, NY.
The fair is also incredibly budget-friendly. General admission is just $10 for adults. Seniors and kids aged 7 to 12 can grab tickets for $7. Bringing the little ones? Kids 6 and under get in completely free.
If you plan on hitting the coasters, you can buy an unlimited ride wristband for $30 on-site.
Grab some cotton candy and enjoy the ride. Your upstate summer escape is officially waiting!
