A hilarious anti-Christmas pop-up bar that has appeared in the Lower East Side is exactly what you need to take a break from New York City’s relentless holiday cheer. Here are the details.
Christmas carols, Christmas decorations… ugh. Christmas, Christmas, Christmas. Aren’t you just sick of all this commercialized holiday crap? The streets are full of wide-eyed tourists walking at a snail’s pace, all the stores are piping in relentlessly jolly holiday tunes, and the societal obligation is squeezing every penny out of your bank account like blood from a stone. If you think the holidays are for chumps then we have the bar for you.
The SKINnY bar in the East Village (174 Orchard Street) has been turned into an “anti-holiday pop-up bar” called “Jingle Hell’s.” In their own words, the pop-up is a “protest against the annual insanity known as the holidays.”
The pop-up comes to the city as a promotion for new SYFY show “HAPPY!” and will stick around the city until December 10.
So, what’s on offer at Jingle Hell’s? How about a Very Bad Santa’s Workshop where you can get your photo taken with Very Bad Santa:
That’s not all though, today and tomorrow (December 4 and 5) you can enjoy some Krampus Karaoke (7 – 9 pm). Wednesday and Thursday (December 6 and 7) put your knowledge to the test with Humbug Trivia, and the rest of the week seeing events like Ho Ho Bingo, Dirty Caroling, and the Anti-Santacon-con. Find the full lowdown on events HERE.
The pop-up is also offering hilarious anti-holiday “coping mechanisms”(“cocktails” to you and me) like the “Seasons Grievings,” “The Worst Noel,” and the “Ho Ho Holy Sh*t.”
