If you’re unconvinced that New York is still the city that never sleeps, meet HighLife.
A labor of love from the team behind Electric Burrito, the new burger spot just opened in the East Village on February 27th, and it offers irresistible midnight snacks (and beyond) for hungry night owls. Thanks to weekend closing hours at 3am (and 1am during the week), wonder no more about snagging greasy food after your bar visit.
More tantalizing that the late-night convenience is the nostalgia factor: the 290 square-foot eatery might be tiny, but the menu offers big flavors the co-owners state is rooted in American history. (Think cheeseburgers and fries.) Those looking to spice up their late-night/early-morning bites can opt for hotdogs with crumbled chips, fries with dill pickle queso, and a namesake burger with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and a signature secret sauce.
“Before Electric Burrito, the dream was to open a burger shop,” co-owner Will Wyatt said in a statement. “Burgers are what originally brought us together, and we’re so excited to return to this project and bring it to life – just leaning into our take on what classic fast food and drive-in restaurants used to be. ”
We’ll catch you at HighLife in the wee hours of the morning. Snag us a side of fries if you get there first, okay?
