The Highest Observation Deck In The Western Hemisphere Finally Reopens In NYC This Wednesday

The highly-anticipated, tallest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere was completed right before the COVID-19 shutdown in March, and now it’s finally reopening!

“Edge” in Hudson Yards clocks in at 1,131 feet high and 765,000 pounds and is located on the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards. It juts out of the building about 80-feet, enclosed by a nine-foot-tall glass wall. There’s also a champagne bar, restaurant, and event space located between the 100th and 101st floors, so you can enjoy the views while you dine (it’s called Peak!).

They announced on Instagram they would be finally be reopening Wednesday, September 2, and detailed COVID-19 safety measures have been added to their website.

The observation deck is working with Mount Sinai Hospital to come up with the safest ways to visit possible. This includes (but is not limited to): reduced capacity, timed tickets, temperature screenings, floor markings for social distancing, protective screens and partitions, and of course, face coverings required at all times (that fully cover your nose and mouth).

When construction on the deck began, Jay Cross, the president of Related Companies (one of the building’s developers along with Oxford Properties Group) said in a statement:

“Whether you’re interested in a cocktail, a celebratory dinner, or just want to see what the city looks like from 1,000 feet up in the sky, the Hudson Yards Observation Deck will offer a truly unique New York experience.”

“Boldly” angled glass on Edge will allow guests to physically lean out over Manhattan…which we imagine only the brave will test.
