October has arrived which means spooky season is upon us. And while we all love a good hay ride and pumpkin to carve, sometimes your run of the mill corn maze and pumpkin patch just doesn’t cut it for the ultimate thrill seeker.
Well, NYC horror enthusiasts are in luck because the world’s largest directory of haunted houses and horror attractions, Hauntworld Magazine, just announced the top 13 most horrifying haunts in the U.S., and coming in at #8 (up one spot from last year) is the Headless Horseman Haunted Attraction in Ulster Park–and it’s just about a 2.5 hour drive from NYC.
The bravest souls looking to get chills right down to the bone can head to the Headless Horseman Haunted Attraction to test their bravery at 14 separate creepy attractions, from spine-chilling haunted houses to a dark and evil corn maze. And even if you’ve gone before it’s still worth it to check it out again as the theme changes each Halloween season!
Walk through a haunted trail while being sure to not summon the shadows of the dead out of the ground, and when (or if) you make it out, you’ll only be faced with more frights–from the haunted Lunar Motel which has a history of unexplained disappearances, to Jacko’s Inferno which is new this year and will take visitors to the heart of Jack’s dark wonderland with distorted, life-sized figures, frightening scarecrows, and more.
Headless Horseman Haunted Attraction is open Friday through Sunday now through October 27th. More info can be found on their website.
For those who leave the scare tactics to others and would rather slide into spooky season a bit less creeped out, NYC is playing host to tons of Halloween concerts bathed in the flickering glow of candlelight, and there won’t be a jump scare in sight!
