Looking for a magical trip from the city? Amtrak’s newly launched Harry Potter-themed trains are just what you need.
With the help of some wizardry, Amtrak has transformed four of their trains into a spellbinding locomotive decked out with your favorite characters. See everyone from Ron Weasley to Draco Malfoy and even the next generation of wizards: Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy and Rose Granger-Weasley on the train wrap! “The swirling clock will give you visions of time travel as you ride through the illustrious landscapes of the NEC [Northeast Corridor],” shared Amtrak.
These specially wrapped trains are in partnership with Broadway show “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” currently playing at NYC’s Lyric Theatre. Wizarding World devotees, Broadway fanatics and Amtrak Guest Rewards members can ride these special-edition trains servicing the Northeast Regional between Washington, D.C., and Boston.
Note, the train will not be stopping at Platform 9 ¾. Nevertheless, Amtrak ensures it will remain an otherworldly ride.
For some background on the popular Broadway show, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child follows Harry’s son, Albus, who has befriended the son of his nemesis, Draco Malfoy. “The audience will experience a mind-blowing race through time, spectacular spells, and an epic battle, all brought to life with the most astonishing theatrical magic ever seen on stage. The entire theatre has also been transformed with hidden surprises to discover around every corner,” shared the Amtrak press release.
