New York City’s endless summer energy has no end in sight–and this massive Harlem festival is proving it.
The city’s annual Harlem Week is officially returning for 2026, shutting down major corridors for sprawling outdoor street festivals, block parties, live concert stages, delicious local food vendors, and more. Recognized as one of New York City’s longest-running cultural festivals, this beloved multi-week festival draws approximately 2 million attendees each year.
Here’s everything you need to know about navigating Harlem Week this year.
👀 What to expect at Harlem Week 2026
For over 50 years, Harlem Week has celebrated the culture, creativity, and global impact of the neighborhood.
What began as a one-day event in 1974 has evolved into a multi-week celebration and year-round platform that connects community, commerce, and culture. This year, the event is taking place over the course of two straight weeks, from August 1–16, 2026, under the theme Honoring Our Legacy.
Along the festival grounds, attendees can expect:
- 🎺 Free Outdoor Concerts: Live stages featuring R&B, jazz, gospel, hip-hop, and local indie artists
- 🎭 Harlem Broadway Row: Special performances brought directly to the street by cast members of major Broadway productions
- 🌮 International Food Villages & Night Markets: Culinary hubs featuring local food vendors, craft cocktails, and night markets under the Manhattan Valley Viaduct
- 🎬 Outdoor Film Screenings: Free night film pop-ups in partnership with the ImageNation Film Festival
