For as long as I can remember, I’ve absolutely loved Valentine’s Day.
The sweet, very pink midpoint of February just might be one of my favorite days of the year. I love spotting people carrying flowers on the subway during the morning commute, bouquets carefully tucked between winter coats. I love the unapologetic pinks and reds scattered throughout the city, brightening up an otherwise gray month.
There’s something undeniably joyful about New York leaning into romance—even (and especially) when that romance looks like self-love, friendship, or simply the many beautiful sites around us all throughout the boroughs.
My friends and I often spend Valentine’s Day together, and it tends to involve crafts, little gift exchanges, sharing stories, and reminding each other how deeply loved we are.
