While many may be focusing on where to watch this weekend’s big fight, there’s still plenty going on in the city that’s worth doing. With that said, it can be hard to find fun things to do that won’t cost you a pretty penny. Here are some events happening in NYC this weekend that are free to attend.
Prospect Park Smorgasburg
When: Every Sunday, 11am-6pm
Where: Breeze Hill (East Drive at Lincoln Road)
While there is a brand new Smorgasburg location in SoHo, the one in Prospect Park will have way less tourists. Explore the long list of over 100 vendors, or just find a shady spot under a tree and hang out in the park. Read more here.
Sunset Fridays Rooftop Happy Hour
When: Friday, Aug. 25, 5pm-8pm
Where: Hudson Terrace – 621 West 46 Street
The weather will be beautiful this weekend, so why not spend your Friday evening watching the sunset from a rooftop? We can’t think of a good enough reason not to. If you get there by 6:30pm under the Fever Guestlist you’ll get a complimentary drink. After that, drink specials won’t break the bank– 2 for 1 Mai Tai’s, margaritas, and cosmos, $4 beers, $8 shots, and $10 cocktails. Not too bad for a rooftop happy hour. Live music will also be played by DJ Dubbz.
Linda Loves Bingo
When: Friday, Aug. 25/Saturday, Aug. 26, 6:45pm-8:45pm
Where: Le Poisson Rouge (LPR) – 158 Bleecker Street
Drag meets bingo at this entertaining show. Queen Linda Simpson runs the show while attendees have the opportunity to win prizes and drink specials when playing everyone’s favorite game, BINGO! Read more here.
Bikini Yacht Party: hosted by Yandy Smith, Kimbella, Juiu, and DJ Self
When: Sunday, Aug. 27, 4pm-9pm
Where: 353 West Street, Pier 40
Put on your favorite bikini and make plans to spend one of your last Sundays of the summer on a recently remodeled Hornblower Infinity with “Love & Hip Hop” celebs. The event will be hosted by Yandy Smith and DJ Self, with other celebs including Kimbella and Juju. Read more here.
Macbeth
When: Friday, Aug. 25/Saturday, Aug. 26/Sunday, Aug. 27, 7pm
Where: Battery Park
This is the final week that New York Classical Theatre will perform in Battery Park before relocating to Brooklyn Bridge Park. The outdoor show of Shakespeare’s Macbeth is free to all attendees, just bring a blanket to sit on. Read more here.
On Top Saturdays Party
When: Saturday, Aug. 26, 11pm-4am
Where: Sky Room – 330 West 40 Street
Once you’re done watching the epic fight you’ll probably want another drink. To get into Sky Room it’ll cost $20, but if you get onto the Fever Guestlist you’ll have free entrance to the stunning 360 degree views of Manhattan and the Hudson River.
Haus: Church on Sundays: 105.1 Invasion with DJ Clue
When: Sunday, Aug. 27, 11pm-4am
Where: Haus – 285 West Broadway
If you’re looking for something to do Sunday night (after watching the finale of GoT, of course) head over to Haus for some great music and a night of dancing. Join the Fever Guestlist and you’ll get in free until midnight. Ladies, you’ll be able to drink free for the hour until 12am!
