If you’re heading to your local branch to pick up a bestseller, allow us to tell you all about the perks a QPL card can afford you.
Things you can do for free with a Queens Public Library Card
Free books are a given, but a card in any of the NYC library systems has its benefits.
Visit your favorite museums for free with Culture Pass
A library card will grant you free admission to dozens of attractions throughout NYC, including the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Cooper Hewitt, Film Forum, The Frick Collection, and so many more, all thanks to the Culture Pass program. The next time you’re exhibit hopping or want to spend a rainy NYC afternoon indoors, check the list of participating organizations and plan accordingly.
Access the news for free
While plenty of us have news subscriptions and constantly refresh our feeds for the latest intel, we can also free access to newspapers, including The New York Times, right from the QPL Research Data Base.
Level up your career skills
Need some help with the job hunt? Venture to the QPL Job and Business Academy (email jobsearchhelp@queenslibrary.org) and take advantage of LinkedIn Learning and specialized education and job training on the system’s data base. Your résumé will get a serious glow-up and you can go into your next interview with confidence.
Enjoy classes, talks, and more
A classics book club? Summer movies? Story times with kiddos? It’s all on the Queens Public Library calendar of events. There are plenty of programs to keep readers of all ages engaged, so be sure to have a look at what’s slated for your local branch.
Prep for college
Have a teen who’s campus-bound? Perfect! The Queens Public Library has plenty of resources through its College Readiness program, whether you and your scholar have questions about financial aid, need a bit of inspiration for admissions essays, or SAT and ACT prep.
