If sensory experiences are your thing, this free event at the Even Headphones Pop-Up in SoHo may be what you’re looking for.
New York is the place to be for all things quirky, and this pop up experience seems pretty interesting to us. Even is a business dedicated to sound and music and has gained some fame lately for their “glasses for your ears” concept for headphones. The idea is that each listener has a unique sense of sound and therefore, like glasses, each individual should have an individual pair of headphones. Their website explains that,
“As a veteran group of sound designers, acoustic engineers, mastering technicians and audiologists, we are the first to highlight the unique and beautiful differences in each individual’s hearing by delivering personal audio hardware products and software solutions that quickly and easily understand and tune personal sound to each ear.”
In conjunction with this concept, this week they have invited the popular audio artist and YouTuber from London, WhispersRed to collaborate on a live, sensory ASMR experience that is free and open to the public. According to her website, “ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) is a physical sensation which usually begins in the crown of the head and often works its way down the spine and limbs. The feeling is often described as tingles and can occur when hearing certain sounds, a soft voice, watching someone else carefully perform a task or receiving personal attention.”
Since sound is so important to our experience in the world and New York City is one of the loudest places one can imagine, it seems fitting that an event like this is coming to town. ASMR is known to help with sleep and anxiety issues and seems like it could be an interesting experience to check out. In a city as filled with stress as New York, what could be a better way to explore a new relaxation technique? If you’re interested, you can register for a spot here to reserve your spot.
