There are very few things New Yorkers love more than convenience — especially when it comes to transportation.
Some time ago, the Downtown Alliance launched a new initiative – a bus service called the Downtown Connection to help you get around Lower Manhattan for free!
The new circulator bus travels between South Street Seaport and Battery Park City, making 38 stops along the way within 10-minute (15-minute on the weekends) intervals.
The hard-to-miss red shuttle-sized buses seat 22 passengers comfortably while also observing COVID safety protocols, such as updated air-filtration systems and forward-facing seating for additional passenger protection.
The Downtown Connection is a convenient way to make your way around Lower Manhattan for a day of shopping or a weekend of exploring. Since rides are free, passengers can hop on and off as they like and pop into shops, restaurants and other businesses, but the convenience doesn’t stop there. Daily rides start at 10 AM and end at 7:30 PM, prime time!
You can start your day with a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, have breakfast at Southstreet Seaport, then hop on the shuttle and do some shopping at Brookfield or the Westfield World Trade Center location. Grab a bite at NERO.lab, a food hall that brings together all the best parts of Italian cuisine: coffee, pastries, wine, pasta, and pizza!
Maybe you want to visit the 9/11 Memorial, see the famous Wall Street Bull, head to Governors Island, explore Battery Park, or see Lady Liberty while cruising on the Staten Island Ferry, which is also free of charge. With the numerous stops, transfers, and more, it’s easy to find a way to incorporate the shuttle into your weekly commute.
All Downtown Connection shuttles are ADA-compliant and offer lost and found services.
