If you are looking for a mid-week escape, the Afro-Latino Festival NYC has officially teamed up with the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership to launch a brand-new cultural plaza takeover.
It is called ‘Sounds of The Americas @ The Plaza,’ and it is bringing a vibrant mix of global rhythms right to the heart of Brooklyn.
Celebrating the diverse rhythms of the Americas
The Americas—from North to Central to South America—are a massive reflection of global diversity, and this concert series celebrates exactly that.
Each evening offers a curated blend of musical and cultural expressions, completely transforming The Plaza at 300 Ashland.
Whether you are a dedicated music lover, a curious neighborhood local, or just need a fun after-work reset, this series is entirely free and open to the public.

The upcoming 2026 performance schedule
The series runs every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. through the end of the month. Since we are already mid-way through September, here is who you can catch for the remaining performances:
- Wednesday, September 16: Get ready to move with Talia Productions Presents Conjunto Tahona, featuring live, hard-hitting NYC salsa and free salsa lessons. Local staple Famoso (a.k.a. DJ Coochie) will also be holding down the decks with his signature Latin mix.
- Wednesday, September 23: Experience the folkloric Garifuna sounds of Honduras with Gogo Norales, followed by the eclectic Afro-LatinX beats of DJ Young Wavy Fox, presented in collaboration with The Garifuna Market.
- Wednesday, September 30: Close out the month with Queens native Linda EPO, who sings in five languages, alongside dancehall reggae legend Derrick Barnett & the Statement Band and international event curator DJ Khalil.

What to know before you go
If you want to prepare for the upcoming November general election, voter registration will also take place on-site at each concert.
