Harlem is getting its own holiday market, taking place on Saturdays throughout December at La Marqueta, which has been a part of the neighborhood for over 80 years!
Located underneath the Metro North railway tracks between 115th Street and 116th Street on Park Avenue in East Harlem, the Harlem Night Market will feature the best of local food, drink, artisans, music and more.
La Marqueta has a rich history, being the go-to spot for weekly shopping for all of Harlem and the Bronx. According to Uptown Grand Central, over 500 vendors would be there, selling everything from fresh vegetables and fish to traditional medicines.
And history will be repeating itself this holiday season with a packed marketplace once again! But be sure to head there no matter the weather, since the night market is in the newly renovated La Placita, now weatherproofed with glass walls.
Some highlights include: Hot Chocolate Floats from Sugar Hill Creamery, Chocolate Chip S’mores Cookies from Made From Haven, Shrimp and Waffles from private chef Maryam Boddie, Apple Cinnamon Lemonade from Elma’s, fashion pins from Poppins NYC, and fashion items with an activism twist from Yo Soy Mia. There will also be a beer garden.
And, Harlem’s top live DJs Stormin’ Norman and Ted Smooth will be spinning tunes each night.
It will be continuing Saturday, December 14 and 21 from 4-10 p.m.
The event was put together by the organizations Uptown Grand Central, NYC Public Markets (NYCEDC), The Best of Harlem and East Harlem Buy Local.
