Jackson Heights is one of the most underrated foodie neighborhoods in NYC. There is no shortage of must-visit restaurants to check out in the area. That said, this weekend there will be a food crawl of “over 20 restaurants selling the Himalayan dumpling known as the momo, promoting local entrepreneurship, community, and culture” in Jackson Heights.
The Momo Crawl is in its 6th year. To attend you’ll need to purchase the Momo Crawl Passport. At only $10 this ticket is a steal, and the money will go to benefit the Students for a Free Tibet. Attendees who purchase the passport will be picked up by a vintage trolley at Diversity Plaza and guided to each of the dumpling locations.
The event ends with visitors voting on their favorite dumplings, and the winning restaurant will be awarded the Championship Momo Belt. In order for you to be able to try them all, the participating restaurants are offering their dumplings for only $1 each.
Along with the dumplings, you’ll be able to enjoy live music, dancing, free henna tattoos, free real tattoos (by Mohan’s Tattoo Inn), and plenty of other entertainment between 2 and 5 pm on Sunday, November 5th. For a full list of participating restaurants check out the Momo Crawl’s Facebook page, here.
